That is a nice shot, I like the snow scene. I assume that is a somewhat rare occurrence in Raleigh? One can pretty easily find variants of my picture, it is taken from the top of a parking garage and by just being observant you can realize that would make for a pretty good place to get some shots.

So you're referring to the building in the Middle which is the Marriott Riverwalk and was built in 1979, the building on the left with Marriott on the top is the Marriott Rivercenter which was built in 1988. Yes there are two Marriotts across the street from each other. The building on the right

I suspect an upright "console" or "spinet" piano. The back of the furniture would probably have enough buoyancy to float the smaller frame. And I still think it's likely someone destroyed the piano before it entered the river so it may have more than just the soundboard. On 11/18/2021 10:14

Thanks, Rick - I had been wondering what kind of piano that came from. The soundboard was not far from the shore at all - a couple of yards at most. And a a nice concrete boat ramp was just a few feet out of the frame. It would have been easy for someone to lug it there and drop it in the water
