Actually, some assignment / editorial photogs these days are getting by with
2 zooms--an f/2.8 super WA (17-35, that sort of thing) and an f/2.
Coming into this late, but...
1) a very small outfit - fast 24mm and fast 50mm, like 50/1.4 and 24/2
2) super-small outfit - ~40-42 (like my Olympus SP 1.7/42 rangefinder)
3) greedy mood : 15mm, 24mm, 50mm, 80-200/2.8, 400/4 or 300/2.8
(not too greedy is it )
4) normal kit - 17/20mm, fast 24mm, 8

Hi, Paul.
What a shit! This behaviour sounds really weird, since I would suppose
meter would also be dead if a electronic problem occurs. Are you sure the
batteries are ok?

A sensible strategy, Paul. I was distraught when I concluded that one of my
20mm lenses was probably 21 or 22mm. Then I realized that I could keep it
and sell my other 20 and my 24. Fewer lenses to store, fewer to choose
from, fewer to carry--who could ask for anything less?

The descission was made for me tonight, the LX stopped fuctioning on all but
mechanical speeds, put new batteries in, but to no avail. Meter is

I want a 20mm or a 24mm or both in addition to my 19mm, 50mm, 85mm, 100mm,
135mm, 200mm, and 400mm. The new 31mm Limited might be nice. Also, I think

by any company and I sold mine! I replaced it with a mint 28-135 f4

Having "more" lenses doesn't mean you have to carry them with you,
although, when Erwitt traveled on assignment he usually carried his full
kit - two bodies, misc. items, and all his lenses from 17mm to 300mm. I
guess it depends on what you're photographing and what the circumstances
are.

occassionally I'll carry two. Too many options can be as frustrating as t

Makes eminent good sense.
I'm all set on 35mm. ( Every prime from
15mm to 500mm) but I still want the
following for my P67:
55 F3.5 or 4
75 F4.5 or 2.8
90 F2.8
and
105 F2.4

Well ... how many high quality lenses are out there? When I ordered my
ZX-5n and FA 35/2 about a year and a half ago, I couldn't imagine I would
want more than a decent 35mm and a macro lens of some sort. However, since
then, I've acquired both of those and a few more--and the whole experience

At one time my base kit was an MX w the 35/2 and the 85/2. If I was to
replace it I think would get the 100/2.8 instead of the 85. At the moment I
have a 24/2, a 50/1.4 and an 80-200/2.8 as a base kit, more versatile but
somewhat more of a hassle to carry about.

With that in mind, you'll notice that I chose the smaller, lighter 600mm
lens, not the big 600mm/4.0 monsters. IAC, Fred, I "need" these lenses
to make me a complete photographer. I want to be ready for any

FA 77/1.8 Limited Black
FA* 300/4.5
FA 28-70/4
FA* 70-200/4
That's all. So I need to buy 77 Limited and FA 300/4.5 and wait for
Pentax to make FA* 70-200/4. In between I could squeeze to buy one
decent LX body.
By the time the above comes true, I'm sure
