Many of the Chinese or Asian breeds share the short muzzle.
The Shar-Pei is pretty short muzzled, as is the Chow.
It doesn't take away from the character of the dog

I would assume show dogs are calmer than average. Otherwise they'd be a
PITA to show, I know I'd never wish my current Cocker on any show venue.
