older Pentax 28mm lenses don't have such good reps, except for the [K]

Are you asking about a true match needle center weighted metering
system? I think the LX has some variation of that - not exactly the
same, but it does have a needle. It is a little bigger, but not lots.
Otherwise, I think you are looking at the K series - they are bigger
though.

I've owned most of those at some point. The one I haven't owned is the
M28/2 (didn't know there was one). I had the K28/2, which is a superb
lens and everybody should have one. There is nothing to fault about
this lens.
The M50/1.4 is a very good lens, sharp, easy to focus, perhaps a

I was hoping there was something like an MX but with a K1000 meter in
it (at least the needle part).
Oh well. I think I'll probably just end up going with the MX as I
really think I'll like the size. Speaking of which, does anyone have
any photos with a K1000 and MX side-by-side? Thanks.

actually, there are five of them so it's not a problem anymore I reckon. ;-)

Nick,
Specifically I'm looking at the M28mm f/2, M50mm f/1.4, and either the
A85mm f/1.4 or the 85mm f/2. Pros, cons?
can't comment on the others, but I like M50/1.4 more than A50/1.4 (I
have 2 samples from both). If you are after sharpness wide open you
might prefer the A version, because
Hey, Nick. The MX has 5 LEDs on the right side of the viewfinder. I,
too, prefer a needle, but the LEDs work very well for low light and
when you might have a dark filter on the lens. The LEDs suck butt in
bright sun. In addition to the MX I also have a K1000. It's a bit
bigger than the MX,
Speaking of the 85mm f/2, I notice there's one on KEH.com right now
rated as UGLY condition but still selling for more than $100! I guess
y'all were right about paying an arm and leg for an Pentax 85.

Hi Bob,
We had this discussion a couple-three-four years ago. It doesn't - far
less than that, actually (maybe about 270-degrees), but compared to many
other lenses, it can seem as though it does. Mine was rather light to
focus, and it did so very smoothly.

Funny, way back I went from an Olympus OM-1 to the MX for the exact
reason. The Olympus had a match needle and I was shooting a bunch of
dark background things (theater) and couldn't see the needle. I went
to the MX because of the LED's. Functionally about the same. The
readout is in half
The MX has 5 led's in it's exposure meter, giving dead on, +/- 1/2 stop
and +/- 1 stop. As they get older they are harder to read in bright
light. Sure you can get an OM1 but then you'd be needing Zukio glass.

Ah, ok...
The only Pentax 35mm film SLR body I've ever been attracted to was
the MX. I bought one shortly after I
preview. KX is essentially the same size as a spotty or
K1000, which is larger than a MX though.

The one I had was mint in every respect but the focusing helicoid
felt like you needed a pipe wrench to operate it. I had Fred Mueller
at ICT clean and re-lube the focusing helicoid after which it worked
beautifully, smooth and light to the touch.
