Yes, she is shooting many small items. But she also sells clothing,
which she puts on a mannequin. Its the larger items that are going to
require a different lighting setup
Thanks Frantisek. I'll keep looking. In the meantime, did you take a
look at the other setup that I mentioned, which is not hot? Take a look
here:

This looks like it could handle much of what she is planning on selling,
without a huge expense.

Sorry I'm late to this thread. Work's been crazy and I'm a day or so behind
on the digests.
I concur that I wouldn't go with hot lights. The one thing I haven't seen in
the threads (up to where I've read so far) is what your friend is shooting.

I believe that same kit is in the BH Photo catalog for $199.
It is basically a portrait setup. If she is selling clothing it may be just what
she needs. It would not be the best setup for small products.

JB The slave flash seem to work with a digital camera like my Sony F717 - but
JB for slow speeds only - from app. 1/2 second and above! So it's no good for
JB digital portraits or things like that. For stills, it's fine, though (long

Slow slave response is a problem with some digitals.
I wish Pentax' ps cameras had a shoe or sync connector
to allow a proper sync with an external flash. Bummer.
Right now the Nikon 5000/5200/5700 have been going pretty
cheap. Nice outfits and very practical for this purpose.

her to try to move from her current setup, which is an inexpensive PS
