It wasn't a snipe. If it was it would have been phrased differently. I was just
interested because so many people had waited for so long for a high end SLR.
It's good for Pentax, and the people buying it if they're happy with it. I
still can't understand why Pentax doesn't sell matching versions o

Well, digital parts of Nikon cameras are made by Sony.
Pentax is very successful in the main digital field - the digital compacts.
They are No. 2 in Germany and No. 1 in Sweden with 30% m

I've only had mine a very short time, so I can't really say definitively at this
point, but there are 2 things that made the camera extremely desirable for me: the
grip take

Absolutely no doubt, I love the camera. I may even trade the MZ-5 for another
MZ-S body, so I can shoot with completely compatible bodies when necessary.
IMHO, the MZ-S is not over-priced for what you get, with regard to
functionality and build quality.

Lovely looking camera, but I'm not the slightest bit interested in it.
I'll have the digital version ASAP. For film, I am very happy with the
LX. The only thing I don't have on the LX that I would have

Nikon and Canon aren't. Kodak is barely hanging in there with competive
products, let alone leading. Have you looked at the DCS720x and DCS760 (both
based on the F5)? Class leading technology is fueled with cubic dollars; Nikon
and Canon are willing and able to do so.

Nikon: D1 original, D1X/D1H, D100. These don't include the older Kodak/Nikon
DSLR's. Canon was late with a Pro level DSLR, but ahead of Nikon at the lower
end with the D30, and now on par. There's also the years of experience with
fixed lens, non SLRs and film scanners that these companies have.

I'm sure they're working on a DSLR. Since things change so rapidly in
this area, they must come up with something that's ahead of the curve at
a competitive price. I know that takes time, $$$, talent, and a crystal
ball. I al
