The Pentax 2x rear converter and Sigma 50mm 2.8 macro also give strange
readings on the DS. The max aperture goes to 1.4 (guess that's why the
converter is worth over $300 :)
Although the displayed info is screwy the actual exposers seem OK and you

A couple of days ago I experimented with the AF 1.7TC, the autofocus

Sigma EX 70-200/2.8 did not work well with the TC. On full opening,
the aperture reported was f/2.8. When stopped down, however, I could
select f/40. That's 2/3

OTOH, it may be less expensive, and more importantly, you may actually
be able to buy one.

They're marketing it for *all* digital cameras and they specifically
mention the 1Ds and DCS-14n full-frame cameras so it would seem the
answer is yes.
