I'm quite satisfied with it, and it includes a large community. So

Many, if not most, ISPs offer free or very inexpensive, space on their
systems for subscribers. I put my pics up on the Earthlink servers and it
works just fine for me. Earthlink allows me to have eight mailboxes, and
each mailbox comes with a certain amount of free space which I use for
hosting

Hi Tom,
I can certainly understand your POV, and far be it from me to dissuade you.
I'd like to point out one other thing: Once the three or four lines of code
were written, there was no need to write any more code for subsequent pics,
and, had I chosen to do so, I could have set things up just

Shel,
I think you're mistaking the way I wrote simple HTML using the Mac OS
X included TextEdit application for the cheapskates thread as what
I normally use to write HTML.
Hi,
You posted two galleries before the cheapskate thread, both of which used a
horizontal format. One was the window mannequins, the other was mostly (or
completely) of trees, iirc. I thought those were with some template that
you used. In any case, those presentations were simple, direct,
for easily and quickly displaying images. It's not ideal, but it's
close enough for the time being.

I'll second Shel on that. I use earthlink as well, and you get a total
of 80mb divided over 8 sites. Plenty of space to put up a lot of web
sized photos. There are also free hosting sites you could look into.
You can use your own html and hot link photos you store on quite a few
of them,

More importantly... it's just as much work :)
Personally, I'm looking into getting some kind of database back end for
the photo section of my web site. All the ones I've seen are quite
expensive,
You're all making things too complicated. Use Lightroom.

Yes, that works too. I find the presentation styles available a
little fussier than I prefer, however.

It really depends on how much work you want to put into it. I can
produce a very quick html gallery with almost no work at all. Much
easier than trying to do something that looks custom in VB, VC or Java.

I don't think that would fill my need for a web server database...

Hi!
I agree with what Godfrey says. I also like, or to be more precise,
don't mind, writing HTML directly. As of recently I've found the
PageBreeze editor to be the best tool for me. It allows WYSIWYG editing
and direct HTML code editing with very easy interface.
However, I am too lazy and
