Normally, you import files from your hard disk into iPhoto by 'drag and drop' ... grab them with the mouse and drop them into the iPhoto organizer window ... it should recognize files with a .JPG or .jpg extension, or .gif, .tiff (and maybe some others). Do all the filenames have the extension
