Hi Heather,
We have used phosphine frequently (prophylactically) over the past ~50 years
(we have never had any capability for low temperature treatment, though we will
soon). We have not noticed any ill effects on our specimens, and DNA has been
successfully extracted from toepads, feathers,

Hey all,
On this note, does anyone have any comments on sulfuryl fluoride, and any
potential effects on objects being fumigated?
Thanks!

Just curious, would one expect the pheromone capsule to still be active after
3+ years?

Hello all,
We just discovered a clothes moth outbreak in a rarely used office in our
building. There are no specimens in this office, and I am not quite sure what
they are eating - casings are around the edge of the carpet, which I do not
think is wool. Perhaps they are feeding on dead insects
A bit tardy on this, but have you considered an anoxic bubble?

Hello all,
I have a cabinet that I need to clean to make sure there are no pest eggs, etc,
left inside that could reinfest future items put back in the cabinet. I can't
just freeze the entire cabinet, and there are weird ledges and corners in the
back of it that are difficult to thoroughly
Hello everyone,
We are looking into the potential for installing a multi-functional sealed pest
treatment chamber in a new building we are in the midst of designing. This
would be something big enough that we could put entire trays or even cabinets
inside and then treat, should the need arise.

Hi Isabel,
We don't have a big problem with clothes moths in our collection, though there
are around, and they are abundant in Canberra. If you would like me to collect
some Australian samples for your molecular work, let me know.

Hi Gretchen,
Can you refer us specifically to any of Tom Strang's research? I cannot see the
work you refer when I search for it, but probably I am missing something. It is
my understanding that the freeze thaw cycle degrades DNA by shortening the
fragments that can be extracted, but I would
Hi Suellen,
I don’t have a solution for you, just a couple of questions and thoughts - how
long did you freeze your skeletal material, and did you use a
freeze-thaw-freeze cycle? I have read that can help ensure everything,
including tenacious eggs, are dead. Your problem is definitely of
