I had to disable the ratings for now: I have filenames with 's in them,
which tend to annoy mysql a bit. Can the next update quote the
filenames before making queries?

With both Zonealarm and ESET NOD32 - there have been AlienBBC
socketwrapper failures even when the security software is disabled.
The problem was only resolved by uninstalling the software - disabling
was insufficient.
As a test can you uninstall the firewall software and see whether it

I tried that.. (im using mac os x)

Thanks for the heads-up on the problem that you are having. I have been
doing 99% of my work on the plugin using SB2 and direct streaming of the
WMA down to the device, so no wmadec in the loop. I have very
occasional problems with streams not connecting, but no where near the

I think a sticky listing the known troublemakers and the solutions would
also be a good move if the admins would be so kind.
I've posted two images to show where to go to exclude the socketwrapper
in NOD32. Just in case you decide to go with the sticky idea.

This problem first showed with Zonealarm and a Cisco VPN client - now
also with NOD32.
I think some sort of standalone test with socketwrapper or a utility
which dumps the Winsock layers is needed.

Your on the right path! I was getting suspicious as I knew that NOD32
isn't completely off even when you turn all the modules off. It
inserts a similar kind of filter to the one that Xfire uses (for
different reasons) and I can remember an issue there. So I googled for

Did you try the standalone Mplayer test to ensure that Mplayer is

Neil,
I think some data is being received from the BBC by Mplayer because
Mplayer has found the mime header below:
Stream description: audio/x-pn-multirate-realaudio logical stream
Stream mimetype: audio/x-pn-realaudio
Stream description: Audio Stream
Stream mimetype: audio/x-pn-multirate-reala
apologies if this is answered further down the list
I have just installed alien bbc 1.0. Followed the instructions more or
less to the letter, except that winrar extracted the codecs into their
own windows-essential directory under \codecs. When I started the

It looks like mplayer is not managing to get any data from the BBC site.
I think you have checked mplayer works but could you time how long it
takes for mplayer to start playing a stream. I think you said you used

Hi,
I can see the LastFM plugin has not started from this log, but not
enough to see why!
Can you run slimserver with the "--d_plugins" option and post the log -
there should be an error that explains the problem very close to the
start.

I am not sure what you mean!
It's a cross-platform replacement for the iTunesUpdateWin.pl script, not
part of the plugin as such.
It would only be of interest if you're an OSX iTunes user running your
SlimServer on a different machine...

James - I 've been keeping an eye on this discussion and was wondering
if the script you just posted needs to be renamed? Or should it just
automatically function in the plugin folder with no changes?

My problem is very strange. I can tune to some XM channels and they
play almost immediately and play every time (Ch. 45 is one). Other
channels (110, 112, 116 are a few) actually play something about 1 in
50 times that I tune them. Also, when the channels do not play the
