The "chmod +s" has failed - you need a "s" in the permissions for
shark2.

Okay heres a bit of my brainstorming, I'm not sure if this should be
created as a plugin for squeezebox server or just as a hackjob script
running in Blueproximity.

default 9090 port after a few forced shutdowns.

The "Cache" name depends on your installation and varies nu distro, OS
and user settings - that is why I wrote "something like"
You seem to be running all the install tests as "root" and not logged
in as the same user which runs SBS. "su" is not the same as logged in.

Since the led doesn't change then either
* plugin is not running properly
* shark2 is not setup correctly.
To check shark2 settings please get a listing of current setting by
doing something like
ls -l Cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/SharkPlay/Bin/shark2
Then copy output to a post.

There is no softsqueeze.exe - it is a Java softsqueeze.jar file. So to
run it create a shortcut with the command
java -jar softsqueeze.jar

Thanks - but I installed softsqueeze via the squeezecenter UI, and as
you say the shortcut used to be on my desktop. But now it has gone - no
ide why - maybe i deleted it by accident. If I install SS again via the
UI the shortcut doesn't appear, and hence I can only start SS via the
UI which is a
Softsqueeze has been removed from recetn SBS distributions. The
distributed softsqueeze v3.7 no longer works well with 7.3.2 and
higher.
Install the community Softsqueeze plugin and you will get a link as
well.

Apparently you have a web server running on port 9090, not the CLI
interface. You could try and point your web browser to
http://localhost:9090/ to find out what it is.
