This is the correct setup to have MAI fetch and store Artist images and lyrics Both folders must be writable by the user that runs LMS. If you are using a piCorePlayer also make sure there is sufficient disk space available for the folders and that they are not within the volatile RAM area.

Only a hint for the artists. If you placed a few new files into the arist artwork folder you don‘t have to do a new scan. It is enough to restart LMS itself. And the easiest way to update the fotos is to put the files into the folder copy the name from the .missing file to the new foto and delete

Hmm... it seems that the LMS own async http client does handle the responses correctly, where the on used in the scanner (LWP::UserAgent) is not. I'm only getting partial responses from the server, and the client doesn't handle this properly. I'll have to investigate how I can tackle this.

I think you are using the wrong folder. It’s the second box not first. If you check artist.missing as you have then the folder will be populated with “Joe Bloggs.missing” if it can’t find artist art for Joe Bloggs. If you then find an image for Joe Bloggs you can remove the .missing and replace
