Anvil(8) which looks like it should be good as part of my anti-spam
implementation. I can see anvil in /usr/libexec/postfix/ but when i
enable the config within main.cf smtpd_error_sleep_time = 1s and grep
on maillog

does Anvil record all connections?
I am receiving massive amounts of incoming mail (freakin status updates)
from facebookmail.com and was hoping to check the connection rate via
anvil in the logs.
However, there are no suck
We recently enabled anvil on one of our mail servers to reduce the spammers
hosing us up. This mail server is also our user mailbox server so it is for
incoming email from our MX boxes and does SMTP Auth from our users. After
enabling anvil I am having a hard time telling if it works.

to control spamassasin performance.
I disabled spamassasin recently and commented out anvil and other settings

it limits each IP to max 2 connections, but when attacker has /24 subnet, he
can easily create 508

By default, Postfix will exclude clients in mynetworks from

Can any explain how to read the connection information that is stored by the
anvil service. I would like to analyse the information so that I can raise
alerts and/or send the messages from internal clients to the HOLD queue for
subsequent deletion/release.

i have a postfix that generates errors of anvil process.
All seems fine, but in some minuts anvil proces seems unavailable.
I've never seen somethink like that and i don't know how to solve it.
I've searched by google, but i haven't found any solution.

and I guess you check your logs to see that these DNSBLs really work ;-p
someday, there will be a dnsbl of sites using dead dnsbls...
please remove list.dsbl.org. google or search ethe archives for more infos.
