It is not possible to write a mac DD disk on a PC -
They are actually 800k and are a format PC floppy

FORTUNATELY for you the 140 has the Mac 1.4M HD
floppy drive (or it SHOULD). In this case what you
need is a piece of PC software called TransMac to
write Mac disks on your

Thanks -- as it turns out, I did get it to read the PC disk, using Apple
File Exchange, which I found on the system disks that came with the PB

No. If you try to decode anything on that PC you will mess up the data forks
so it cannot be read on the Mac. You leave the file as is on the PC. Put it
straight to a floppy. Take that PC floppy to the Mac. The Mac will ask you
what program you want to use to decode it. there will be a list.
In the control panels there is a place to say how many recent documents
you want to save. You are not really saving those documents, you are merely
putting aliases of their locations there. In system 9 it is a control panel
called Apple Menu Items. That is where you tell the system how many
Now, I need to get (I think) a decompression program (Stuffit Expander
5.5?). I am running System 7.1. Would a download of this to PC transfer to
the PB145 properly using Apple File Exchange? I think PC Exchange started
around System 7.5 or so...BTW, it DOES have a 1.44 MB floppy.

While it is not quite so jazzy as the Kamus PB stand mentioned on that site,
you can also just put the PB on top of a box or a couple of telephone books
to get the screen to the proper height for you and use an external KB and
mouse.
Right now I have an iMac sitting on top of one of those

As much as I loathe Microsloth, I think their browser is better than Netscape. Too
many pages display incorrectly in Netscape. Not entirely their fault. After they got
run over by the Borg and lost the market share, it was about over. Web designers tend
to design pages for the browser most

Have you tried to mount it as a SCSI disk in docking mode to a desktop, this
would be the simplest and fastest workaround if an external CD won't mount.

At this point, I see that I have the desired file on my PC; it is a BinHex

If you don't have Stuffit, you'll need to format a Mac disk on your Mac,
then use a program such as HFV Explorer or TransMac or the like to copy it
to the Mac floppy. While copying it will decode the file.
This is, of course, assuming the file will fit on a floppy.
And then you will find out
I coverted the floppy to a mac floppy now my problem is when i try to brong

Since I don't have a SCSI external CD-ROM drive, I did connect my 540c
to my G4 Cube using Ethernet to load software. It worked well. I used my
cable modem router as the link between the two computers, but you can
connect the Macs directly using Ethernet as well.
Make the Mac that you'll be
Say, that is a really good idea. The PB is quite light. I assume you mean
one of those white two-level ones that is about 10 inches in diameter. and

kitchen.
