Possibly. An AC adapter may buzz as a results of over-load or short-circuit,
either externally or internally. Is it buzzing when not connected to the PB? If
yes, then it may be toast. If not, the PB may be over-loading it.
Is it getting too warm to touch? Another possibility is due to age.

same noise as my old one did, so I just assumed that it was a noise
all of them made. But, nothing can ever go right. Last night, I turned

And now for a completely irrelevant subject:
I have a bet going on with a co-worker; what was the last grayscale
Powerbook? I say it was the Powerbook 5300, as I have one, but my friend here
says that
there was a Powerbook 1400 grayscale produced by Apple.
Please settle this friendly wager

According to lowendmac.com, the 1400 never had a greyscale screen, just
two variations of color screens. The 5300 had several color and also the

any of them were made/discontinued after the 5300, or what screen type

Those were the discontinued dates of the greyscale versions.
I hadn't realised that the 190 continued for so long into the 5300 span.

Impending toast. It's the UFO's subtle hint that you should go find
a replacement, because you're going to need it.
Any chance
