Howdy,
Why is it that my PB 1400 is puttering along at it's usual rate, but then
suddenly completely stalls for 30-45 seconds. Acts like its right on the
virge of hanging...but doesn't (if I have thepatience to wait for it to pick
back up again).
The bummer is that I have typed some things

Is this while you are connected to the internet, or not?
If it is when you are not, be sure to turn off all stuff that
helpfully tries to connect to the internet automatically.
The time/date control panel, quicktime and other apple software
updates, that sort of thing.
That can

You really should be experiencing any stalls
Thanks for the suggestion. I didn't realize I had set the clock to automatic
update. I noticed it updated 45 minutes ago, I have set it to manual. Maybe
it will get rid of my biggest gripe on my PowerBook so far!
Nothing in the server folder.

Before the change I was watching the clock this morning: 11:43, 11:46,
11:48, 11:51, 11:53

Anyway, I am still using my 3400 and still having slowdowns. For some reason
only while online the screen will lockup for up to five minutes. Cursor will
move fine, but no screen updates. I figured it was an Internet Explorer
problem, but the same thing seems to happen with Opera and iCab (when I
!) I haven't noticed it when a web browser is not open (like online to
check email with Outlook Express).
Has anyone else experienced this?
It even stalls under virtual PC and IE for windows! I just got Virtual PC
2.1 and it is a very cool program by the way, DOS works great, Win95 is slow
but OK
