Try turning off the preference that enables html reader. (not sure if
this is the answer, but I have a vague memory of this coming up on the list)

go to preferences and deactivate html display.
or use a 2 pane display, mark it and delete it.

A more precise report would help... Maybe you just need to enable
background indexing, in the indexing preference pane.

Help! using PM 4.2.1, and OS 9.2.2, I received an email from PayPal Visa,
which freezes the program when I single-click on it, so that I can't
trash it. This outfit has sent me a fraudulent notice every day for six
