Hi Chad, Did you go through the Intro to Pro Tools pdf to follow instructions on how to set up MIDI tracks for recording and playback? Also, did you have a look at the Audio MIDI Utility to see if your device is recognized and enabled? Just two things off the top of my head that I would try.
