I am trying to create a map in python where I have a shape file in the BTM
projection system. I want to add OpenStreetMap as the base map under the
shape file. Can anyone suggest me how to change the coordinate system of
the map in python?

QGIS operates on two levels: The data level and the visualization level. If
you added your US outline to QGIS it will automatically show it to you in
the projection the data is in. If all you need is to create an output that
looks like it is in a different projection you can change the

geolocalisation of higher definition rasters then Google Earth non-pro edition.

Shouldn't your east and west Lattitudes be negative? That would make it
appear reversed as they stand now. At least I think - but I've not done

You certainly shouldn't have to save the shapefile to get the correct
projection... did you try refreshing the mapcanvas after enabling on the fly
projection (though this shouldn't be required either)?

issue is that changes can be made to the CRS but it does not take effect
until the layer file is saved with the new CRS values and is required to be
reloaded in a new session. Surely the layers should refresh

prj files generated by ERSI products generally lack TOWGS parameters
(see EPSG:1618, CoordinateTransformation, http://www.epsg-registry.org).
Maybe this is solved in ARCGIS 9.3.
As Albin suggested you can try to use this prj file.

i have a raster and 3 vektor layers that i want to overlay
Rasterlayer is a geoTIF and as of .prj file:

I make all steps to make on-the-fly(OTF) describe in userguide.pdf (7.2 Getting
Started).
When i enable OTF in project setting the raster layer hide.
I can confirm the extend image in OTF is correct, because, the tool zoom

By setting the project preferences to the projection and datum of
your files (which may be seen in the file's preferences after
opening them) all vector and raster maps having the same projection
and datum will overly well. When some of the files wanted to be used
differ in projection,
