Currently, qmailtoaster/Thunderbird is setup in the following way. Firstly, it sends the e-mail and then the message is copied to sent folder. This is not a problem for a small messages without attachments. If there is a 5mb attachment, then this is a pain in the neck to wait for the message to

While you can proceed to do other things with Thunderbird open. If you are using IMAP and close the client it will drop the connection and fail to write to the sent folder. I don't know for POP, but I am guessing the same holds true if you close the app, you'll disrupt the copy to the sent

Thanks Eric, Yes, I am using Courier and the copying messge into Sent folder is basically an IMAP sync. The thing is that often I have a number of complains from users that they have to wait (do not ask me why) (1) when the message is sent (2) when its copied into sent folder. I understand

You know, I've always thought that the way Outlook sends was sort of a cheat. Outlook 'sends' to it's Outgoing folder, which is fast. It then does the actual send and copy in the background. Outlook still needs to be open though in order to complete the transmission though. I wouldn't go so

Also check your /var/qmail/control/simcontrol file. Should be set to scan by default though. Does smtp or spamd log show any result of scanning? BTW, I highly recommend using spamdyke. That will reject 80+% of spam without even receiving it, so spamassassin and clamav have a lot less work to
