might work on particular Macintosh hardware'! :-)
But even then we've streched a little!

P.S. Another web browser that is pretty cool in Lynx. Its text only like
Wannabe, but has more features and render modes. There is a 68k version
that some French guy had up for a while, but I've lost track of where you
can get it now. Its main problem is that its a port of a UNIX program.
I had a look on my quadra 800 under linux, and found:
/dev/cdrom - /dev/sr0
/dev/sr0 - /dev/scd0
So I guess my spouting earlier about /dev/sdx was castrated he-cows.
Do you have any /dev/scd*?
If not, maybe your cd hasn't been recognized???
It might also be worth trying booting off a ramdisk

In 7.5.x it's not recognising non mac cds as nothing is installed, that explains part
of it.
Under OS 8 things are OK most of the time, sometimes it just ignores

Just a few ideas:
1) What flavour of CD is it?
You may find that if it is a Mac CD, linux won't like it - try a
standard format (eg. the debian install CD, if you have one). Yes - I
realise that is probably what you are using but it is worth a try.
It was the debian Cd which read fine under

The CD drive on my c650 has started to ignore disks?
Any ideas? It worked fine 1 minute and then not the next.
However yesterday it just said bad disk do you want to format it
to everything!
this is weird! just when i was halfway through installing debian as well!
It read the disk to install
Well the playing with the c650s continue,
today a few SCSI drive questions.
1. One drive I was trying to get to work doesn't seem to start when the
computer is switched on. That is it doesn't initialise or make any noise.
However when drive setup scans it it starts! Can I get it to start
Check the jumpers on the drive against the manufacturer's listed settings
and
see if there's something weird enabled.
and for reference what shoudl and what should not be set for use on macs?
One of the drives (that i found the spec for ) has the following

Hey,
Still fiddling with the c650s (a different one to the one that blew a fuse earlier)
and I put 2 * 32 mb simms in it and now it really takes quite a while on power on
before it starts booting (ie when the video springs into action)
Quick question, is this normal, does it check the memory
I know I need Toast or the equivalent, but which version?
3.5.x for 68K. Perhaps 4.x would work if your Q950 was upgraded to PPC.
I believe that Toast 4.12 was the last version to work on 68k.
I certainly use it on 68k, both on real macs and under b2 in windows.
Kyle.
Basilisk II sounds like a winner! I run it on my P3-600, and it does a
pretty good job with it. Too bad they donĀ¹t make it for the MacOS. It
would be really nice to play some of the older games they have on my 9500
without crashing.
You can run it on your mac, though only if you run a *nix on
Hi,
