Planning a trip to London in a modern tin box, we checked to see if the car is
ULEZ compliant (no real surprise that it is)…. Just being curious I entered the
Quantum registration number to find it was also compliant! This is a huge
surprise, as it is a 1987 donor with a CVH engine and E-prefix
Judging from the retail price of an aluminium alloy rad, I suspect a 2nd-hand
one would cost as much or more than a new standard one.

As I understand it there are 2 ‘types’ of Fiesta mk2 XR2 radiators – one with
copper end tanks and one with plastic end tanks. Both will fit with respect to
the hoses, but (from memory) there is a small difference on the mounting holes

Whilst you’re doing the job (apologies if you already know) it’s worth
replacing all the fuel hoses with ethanol proof hose – I’d recommend (having
searched a lot) that Car builder Solutions is the preferred supplier.
8mm and 6mm I/D are probably the sizes need
I don’t know the answer to this (maybe I should as I have a saloon). Mine is
running 185/55 x 14, I can’t recall the offset. On the Rear you need to be
aware of how close the tyres are to the trailing arms, as well as inner arches.
At the front the steering rack is either a standard or XR2. Some
y were wrong.

if you aren’t worried about the weight or cost, you could fit the largest
available that will fit with an eyelet terminal that fits the starter post,

Well at least you were pushing it down! When I took my Rickman for MOT 3 years
ago the tester didn’t push it down (just across) and tried so hard to get it
into gear that he broke the (very long ) gear lever!
After I removed the lever, he welded it and the (MIG) weld only lasted 3 days.

20mm to get the servo to clear the side of the engine bay.
And cut and shorten the transfer bar for the same reason, it was already cut
and welded with some dubious welds so i didn’t mind redoing it.

Surprised they are narrower (BMW probably being a wider car), the 18mm one will
possibly cause all sorts of stability problems. I recall fitting lower rated
front springs to my Calvy Mitchel, which resulted in more body roll (than the
MGB GT ones previously fitted) and the result was a much nice

Ranger, and it had terrible play within less than 2000 miles – It was worse

I used a Land Rover Defender one to replace the one on my Rickman, IIRC it’s
about 6.5 inch diameter (It had to be small ‘cos the Escort one was similarly
small! ) It was only £60 brand new and as these were mostly supplied by Girling
or similar, the manufacturer’s changed as little as p
I made moulds for mine using aluminium, and then used GRP to make the finished
parts– I think I kept the aluminium moulds somewhere. If you wax your aluminium
ones( or tape them) you may be able to make GRP ones off them?
