Hi,
our setup is like this right now
Auth: Ascend --> radiator (sql) --> radiusd1 (/etc/passwd)
Acct: Ascend --> radiusd2
radiusd1 is a unix machine which authorizes some of our old accounts through
the local passwd file.
radiusd2 is another unix machine which logs the accounting and runs some
Hi All

No, (unless the period of outage is very short and the NAS is still sending
retransmitted stops to the RADIUS server - most NAS have a limit on how
You'll need to define the remote database in your
tnsnames.ora file, like this:
-- tnsnames.ora --
remote_database=
(DESCRIPTION=
(ADDRESS=
(PROTOCOL=TCP)
(HOST=WWW.XXX.YYY.ZZZ)
(PORT=)
)
(CONNECT_DATA=(SID=WG73))
)
My Lucent (Livingston) PortMasters are capable of using a feature named
"call-check". With this feature, the PM sends an authentication request
before it accepts an incoming call. The request specifies the
phone-number from which the call is coming as the user name. Radius has
the opportunity
Has anybody dealt with this issue ? I have Access Servers Australia wide,
however Radiator servers in Melb and Syd only.I need to display the
time the caller connected locally not the Radiator local time. Then the
issue gets more complicated during daylight savings time, any Ideas ?

I've done that on my Livingston Portmaster 3 to provide Callback based on
the Callers CLI. First you must put a line into your dictionary File:

Is it possible to use two different user files in radiator.
Also does the sorting of the userfile improves the speed of authentication .

Hi John,
The message you are seeing is "normal" in the sense that the insert is trying
to insert a retransmitted accounting request. This is undoubtedly due to the
accounting response being lost on the way back to the NAS. This is also an
artifact of the radius protocol, being based on UDP.

Hi Gary,
It is not possible to have 2 different users with teh same username in the same
users file.
If the users are indeed different, you can specify a different Handler for each
different number, and have a separate user database for each Handler.
Alternatively you could chain 2 clauses, wit
Hello Ricardo,
its not possible to change the AuthByPolicy in the middle of a Realm. Instead,
we would suggest doing it like this (untested):
# Handle all acccounting requests here
AuthByPolicy ContinueAlways
# Alweays save accoutning to an SQL database
Hi Dwayne,
2 things:
On NT, it is often not necessary to sepcify DomainController, your Radiato will
figure it out. But if you do specify a DomainController on NT, you will need to
include the leading slashes on the machine name (ie standard MS machine naming
convention)
Hope that helps.
Cheers

Yes, you can arrange for Radiator to let them in if they are in either file, or
if they are in both files. Or you can arrange for one file for one realm, and a
