I've been somewhat frustrated with the Radio's alarm reliability (or
rather, lack thereof). In about 2 weeks of use, I'd say the alarm has
NOT gone off correctly about 3 or 4 times out of about 10 days. It
looks like the radio "thinks" it's playing the alarm sound correctly -
it's displaying the
What the heck is Amazon up to? They dropped the black again but the red

I got mine at my local Best Buy. Like others; they use to have a nice

The sales person suggested I look at some of their "other" products
that he was "sure" would meet my needs. (:

My local WorstBuy had two in stock but couldn't lay their hands on them;
I went to a different one a couple of days later and they had the boxes
on the shelf (but no display unit).

Went to Best Buy in Fort Wane, Indiana to take a look at a Squeezebox
Radio. It was on sale in their ad. There were none to be found. One
sales person told me that the radio had been pulled off display and I
could "order" one if I wanted one.
I talked to another sales person who told me that they

Too bad they didn't design it to take standard NiMH batteries (and not
recharge them) as well as it's own pack which it would of course
recharge. I don't know how long it will last on the 10 NiMHs but at
least there would be a fallback in situations where no pack is available
or if it's dead, etc.
This is truly a drag and lamentable but what can be done but to wait?

Think the third party Squeeze plugins and applets are important?

Safety checks and probably certification (from UL or someone).

It's very tempting to build one myself, as I use the radio in different
locations around the house. The move of the battery out until February
