Hi,
I'm trying to set up my new Squeezebox Radio to play the latest edition
of a podcast as an alarm.
So far I'm not having much luck.
I started playing the podcast, and then set the alarm choosing current
playlist as the sound option, but this seems to play the last play list
I was using as I
If you add the podcast as a favourite, you should then be able to select
it as a favourite in your alarm drop down.
Not sure if this will play the latests podcast though.

I share your frustration. The only way I can use my SB radio is by
starting it up holding down the rewind button so that it is on 7.42
firmware. If I don't do that, I am revisiting the radio in less than
an hour to restart it and get it playing again.
This is totally messed up and I don't see

Thank you.
Using Yahoo Pipes I have managed to create an RSS that just has the one
podcast item I want to play, so hopefully that should force the
squeezeboxc to play the right one.
Will try it when I get home. :)
Cheers,

Resolved but not released yet unfortunately... (will be in 7.5.1 - you
can run the nightly builds of that if you're not faint of heart)

Well, I can add the podcast RSS feed as a favourite and squeezebox radio
will play it no problems, but... I still can't see how to add it is a
sound to the alarm!?

Ah! it appears you can only add favourites as alarm sounds in the
server software! No idea why!

Well I've struggled with Yahoo Pipes for a while without luck. It seems
to be hard to return a direct link through to an mp3, that changes on a
weekly basis, therefore it seems this can't be done.
But adding the ability to play a podcast RSS feed as an alarm would
definitely be appreciated!
I can't help you much with a bricked Radio. Best I can offer is to
remove the battery, unplug Radio, let sit for a while, try plugging it
back in.
I suppose if the FW is truly corrupted (hopefully not) then it's
probably DOA.
But, if you do get it running again, here is a way to refuse future

Yeah, that was the first thing I tried...
Now I'll just wait for a while with the unplugged SBR, but actually, I
think
Try putting it on repeat song. if it drops the station, it will
restart... maybe.

Well I thought of a couple of possible solutions.
Either, download the mp3 using a podcast downloader, and rename it to a
generic file name and have this file added to a generic playlist.
Squeezebox can do this (play a specific file in a playlist) but I can't
find a way to download and rename a

Oh joy, something new to figure out - repeat song? I seem to have the

I'm not running squeezeserver, mine
Just thought of a simpler option:
Most of the podcast software that downloads gives you an option to say
how long to keep podcasts. You could just let it delete all but the
most recent podcast?
Then setup an alarm that plays the particular artist\album on which the
podcast shows up as.
