Because of this Zero volume issue Craig modified Material so that the
volume icon will pulse if set to Zero but there is something playing. It

I think this may be the same problem I reported 2½ years ago, the
problem was with Material skin, but I think it got fixed. I've not seen
this happen since. Ther

Hi all, wonder if anyone else has ever seen this before? It seems that
when I come back to my radio after not using it for a while the volume
has rest to zero.
Firmware: 7.7.3-r16676
LMS: 8.0.0 on Ubuntu.

Hi
I wonder if anybody could give me some advice before I start fiddling
with my Squeezebox Radio.
For a while now the volume knob has been less reactive when turned and
is now almost unusable. If I turn it clockwise the volume goes up and
then suddenly plunges down to near zero. I assume this is
All,
Is there a way to set a max volume control on the Radio? Trying to

It's not really weird at all, since digital can be just as much all over
the place as analog when it comes to volume. Consider CDs, which are
digital, but vary tremendously in volume (google "loudness wars"). The
SBS replaygain settings depend on the presence of replaygain tags. This
works fine wi
I noticed there is a lot of variation between different stations in
volume as well, which seems weird since it is all digital. I know there
are some settings in the menu for gain control like "auto gain" and
"smart gain" maybe they will do something for you. They don't seem to
do much on my radio
Not really, stations stream with many different parameters including
volume, encoding type, bitrate, bass boosters, audio gain, etc...

Im really happy with my SB Radio. I got also a Boom but Radio is much

I connect almost always with mySB.com ...

There is a couple of different curves Touch SB3 Transporter has the same
logarithmic one ? I think .
The response curve are in the sbs code , I just found them out of
curiosity one day can not remember where .
So hack away... and change them .
I do like to how why Boom and radio have different

I need to give quite a few turns to the volume button to get a
significant volume increase. Is there a way to increase the step for
each turning click.
Now the volume increases by 1 for every turning click. If you could set
it to f.e. 3, it would still be accurate enough but just one swing to

Thanks for the reply. The problem was when playing.
I have since upgraded SBS to Version: 7.4.2 - r29167.
I haven't noticed the problem since... not sure if it is related to the

This is a deliberate design decision. It gives good resolution at the
low end, and plenty of loudness at the high end. There is no way to
damage the device by playing it too loud -- there is digital limiting,
so even with an extremely hot input signal, no damage will happen. It
may sound lousy
I had the same thoughts on my Boom.
Currently its on the nightstand and 20-25 is good...mainly cause its
right by my head.
I moved it to the kitchen, which is where it will go once I buy some
Radios, and to just hear it across the kitchen it needed to be at 50-55.
It concerned me as I wondered
I have the same issue (if it is one) but since it sounds great at 75+
its kind of a nonissue for me
