You picked a great route.Very little traffic and nice scenery. I'm familiar
with Rt.224, but not the beautiful campsite you stayed at. Thanks for posting.

No flats in maybe 500 miles on the Hetres. I did have a flat yesterday on

Yes, I bought the frame from Rivendell. It's a size 55 frame and uses 700c

We find inspiration while riding, and the courage to move forward in our lives.
My deepest condolences to you, and may the wind always be at your back.

The Kancamagus highway is a great road! Never had the pleasure of cycling

It just happened.

Me too. Slow biking helped by old age. Actually I like to go fast, but my body

I'm using the Conti Speed tires that Rivendell sells. Its hard to beat the

Yes,as Steve pointed out, Rivendells use oversized tubing. My Homer is perhaps
stiffer than my 155 lb body needs. I read with great interest Jan's writings on
frame flex and planing with standard diameter tubing.

Standover clearance for a 58cm Atlantis is 83.2cm. You're PBH is 84cm, so it's
mightly close, but for $1,000 you can't go wrong. I'd buy it. If it doesn't
work for you, sell it.

I think CF bikes have their place in the world of cycling, and I certainly
subscribe to "live and let live" as it applies to cycling. It should be
"ride and let ride". The point is ride what you have, and try to have a
good time doing it.Who can deny that riding in a pace-line at 20+ mph isn't

Yes, it's hard to beat the noodle bar for allround comfort. I have them on a
homer and am very happy with the choice. On Grant's recommendation, I went with
a 44cm noodle, rather than my usual 40 cm bars. If I remember correctly, he
said "only Japanese women ride 40cm bars"!

Nice frame. I noticed a discoloration near the left rear dropout, seen in one
of the pictures, blueish and brown.
What is that? Looks like the fork is threadless, correct?

Jack Brown Green tires are lightweight and supple, but very susceptible to
flats in my experience. Forget it when the roads are wet, flat city.

Does Stans really work well inside tubes? Seems to me, to be effective, sealant
needs air to harden and seal. I know Stans works well in tubeless tires and
rims, I've tried it, but inside tubes I'm not so sure.

I agree, nice pictures. I've done the GAP a couple of times and really enjoyed

Cost per mile, as Jan states, is the key. For the amount of riding I do (
