Owtstanding. I'm in West Berkeley, but I head south into the Emeryville-to-Jack London region several times a week. Email me at and we'll work out a time window and a price. I may even have use for two - one for my Raleigh International loaded-ish touring beater, and one for a SuperCourse 650b

Thanks for the reply Ted. Peter - I work in Emeryville and live in San Rafael so if you are interested we can figure out a place to meet. Dan On Wed, Dec 31, 2014 at 8:30 AM, ted wrote: > Dan, > > Although I appreciate your offer, I am satisfied with the way I currently > have my fender mount

Dan, Although I appreciate your offer, I am satisfied with the way I currently have my fender mounted (with a sliding thing). Also my brake bridge is square in the middle, and it seems like a shame to butcher such a neat widget by filing it flat. I suppose someone could use half a piece of rod

I finally had time to go through the parts and I have two of those widgets from Anton. The frames they were intended for have moved on so they are available if the OP and Peter are interested. Dan > On Dec 30, 2014, at 9:24 PM, Peter Adler wrote: > > That looks ideal. On the offchance that

That looks ideal. On the offchance that you keep track of older purchases: Do you recall what the widget's French name is? I'm assuming it was a common part, but only in France (for perma-mounting fenders on 700c frames without predrilled brake bridges, perhaps). But given the current run of li

Or perhaps, how much of an Atlantis it is! :-) Interestingly enough, my 2001 Atlantis does have the tapped fender mount on the rear brake bridge facing down. I wonder if it's been the standard on all Atlanti 2. (That would make sense for the most versatile of all Rivs.) On Dec 30, 2014, at 1

I am kind of surprised all of Rivendell's bike models don't have a tapped fender mount on the brake bridge, stock, like the 2013 Hillbornes do. RBW is into fenders. So I would have thought that would be standard on all their frames, but they are not. -- You received this message because you are

Another solution is this little French widget. I got a bunch of these and offered them up on the Bob and RBW lists a couple of years ago. I only have one left, in anticipation of me being in this situation one day, otherwise I'd offer it up:

You can avoid the special order issue by substituting a typical fender draruma (eyelet bolt) for the same purpose. Granted, that Honjo piece is not only nice looking but (somewhat) better designed as a block to act as a spacer -- but I've used this method of repurposing the fender hardware pie

Thanks Takashi, that looks kinda neat. I gather it replaces the spacer that normally goes on the brake bolt on the back side of the bridge. Do you know how thick it is? I suspect the only way to get one would be special order through a LBS. On Friday, December 19, 2014 7:58:01 PM UTC-8, Takashi

An L bracket would be another nice approach, particularly with the Sheldon nuts. I have cut bolts to fit before, though probably not that short. I was just putting longboards over soma GR tires on my Hilsen. There is not much room and the 45 fenders are barely wider than the tires. I think getti

Alternatively, Honjo L-brackets are really nice looking. I also bought a set of Sheldon nuts for the next time fenders go back on the Hilsen. Christopher is right that you'll have to run a bolt that's exactly the right length. On Friday, December 19, 2014 3:47:06 PM UTC-8, ted wrote: > > Th

Thanks Bill, Since its basically flat sided in the middle I figure it wouldn't be hard to carefully mark and center-punch it so a drill wouldn't tend to walk. Then just poke the right size hole with a hand drill and run the tap I use to clean bottle and rack mount threads through it. Not trivial

Drilling and tapping would work if you do it right. I have bikes that came with threaded bridges, and I prefer that. My Hilsen, like yours, doesn't have a threaded rear brake bridge. I have not drilled and tapped it yet, but it's currently not wearing fenders, either. On Friday, December
