In my flickr pictures, list member "Campy Only" made a comment that
rather than "dust" beneath the paint it may be "rust". I meant to
reply to that but inadvertently deleted the comment (sorry Campy).
I know he's had a few old bikes restored/repainted and knows a bit
more about this than I do. I wa
I love the look of that bike with the huge black tires and high rider

Lee,
Thanks for your comments. The rear rack is a Nitto Campee model
that's sold by several sources. I purchased mine from benscycle on
eBay, they also have the rack on their website at:

Jim, that is an elegant machine and a great color. What Nitto rear

several standard colors. These included orange, blue and green (these
were/are Grant Peterson's preferred palette). In addition, for an
extra cost, they added a contrasting creme color on the headtube. You

Someday a 56-ish Standard will come along for me...

Then it shows up for sale... I'm very tempted. It's a little big for

Bruce,
It's original. I've spoken to Richard Schwinn and he went to great
lengths to let me know how different things are now paint-wise as
opposed to then.
You haven't seen them all, I've seen many other than the minty blue.
Rivendell offered these in lots of colors.

Patrick,
I wouldn't classify this one as a beater but if no one bites, I will
hang onto it :)
You had one, so you know how nice they are. Special bikes indeed.
We'll see...
