Good morning
Thanks for the guidance.
I should have stated that I'm using a 486 PC...
Do you think using 4 drive controller will be possible with a 486?
I understand using fstool to add the additional drives but do I
really need to recompile?
Thanks again for the advice.

Your right! I am just a safety freak. There is of course no reason to rerun
it after you change it back.

Hi,
My company , Ludexpress, has developed a system to build seeker sites,
with Linux, Apache, FreeWAIS & MySQL. These search engines look similar
to yahoo!, with full text search, categories, news list, etc.
see them work on http://www.mangaseeker.com and

I am looking into configuring my RedHat 4.1 linux using
Pine to send and read mails, and fetchmail to retreive them
from the popmail server at my ISP at regular intervals.
I am looking into the following configuration:
1) Using isdn to connect to the ISP
2) I do not want to keep ipppd running,

This part isn't necessary, since the MBR of the hard disk wasn't changed.

edit /etc/lilo.conf
change the first line to
boot=/dev/fd0
save and exit
then run the following with a disk in the floppy drive
/sbin/lilo
then edit /etc/lilo.conf
back to the way is was and rerun lilo again.

You mean like a secondary IDE controller, that is typically built-in to
most Pentiums? If so, then yes, and nothing further needs to be done. If
not, then it will

Hi!
Sometimes when I try to play an mp3 with mpg123 I get the
following error:
High Performance MPEG 1.0/2.0/2.5 Audio Player for Layer 1, 2 and 3.
Version 0.59o (1998/Feb/08). Written and copyrights by Michael Hipp.
Sound error: Couldn't allocate DMA buffer
Can't open /dev/dsp!
I need to expand the capabilities of my linux box and
am wondering if
Redhat 4.2 can handle...
an IDE controller card which can accomodate 4 IDE devices
(one of which will be my IDE CDROM).
And... is there anything special (other than just physically installing

Use joe. It's small, even smaller than vi. It has a pico mode which simulate pico key
bindings.

Gentlefolk,
For several years now I have used a Screen Printing utility called
-xpr
that takes the screen dump output of
-xwd
and creates a PostScript file for printing. (I have written several programs
that create graphics from my own routines and I print them using
