Totally agree but the syslinux shipped in the boot.img on the Redhat 7.3 cdrom is like 1.50 and at 1.60 you could begin using splash images on boot up. I did this on 7.1 and 7.2 no problem... Run syslinux (the new one) against the boot.img and then open it up and add my .rle file for the splash
