The easy way around it (I say this because it's how I got around it), is to load the ide-scsi module. By loading just the ide-scsi module, "cdrecord -scanbus" recognizes the IDE CD drive as a SCSI CD Drive...if it's the only CD drive in your system, you should be able to access it as "/dev/scd0

Loggin Problem RH8

When ever I try to loggin to RH8 in GUI mode i get an error.   I know which file is causing this. Is there anyway I can edit my Linux Partion using a program while im on windows? or somehow restore the offending file.   Please help, thanks

Step 1) Checking RPM database for installed RPMs Ok this example is taken from my RH7.2 box. If you want to remove the rpms you first need to know which ones are installed. You do this with the following command: [root@intranet root]# rpm -qa |grep mysql mysql-server-3.23.41-1 mysql-devel-3.23.41
