HI Thank's for looking! I have just upgreded my kernel-2.4.20-8 to kernel-2.4.20-18.9 every thing looks like it's working good and Im well pleased. Now Im going to Build a custom kernel for my system too. But I dont need the old kernel-2.4.20-8 now so I just wont to delete it off my hard drive.

Ok, I see the problem now... the uninitialized value is $i. I did use my($I) but that wasn't enough... my($i)=0 would be better... you have to keep in mind I'm rather new to perl, so I didn't have the whole variable declaration procedure down. Btw... I don't care much about efficiency right now,

Ok, the whole point of the -w switch is so I know what's happening.. Anyway, I made the modifications you suggested and it eliminated all but the first error message. I don't understand why I'm getting uninitialized value errors when I did initialize the values.. Thanks for your help -D
