if u r not able to boot in a initial stage than your cdrom seems to be a
problem. as you are not able to boot the other OS If u are able to boot but
not able to properly install it than may be u can go for a dd option or
advance option when booting normally if it worked earlier it should work now
May be u can try to install linux first with the
required partition and then install xp as xp partition may be
different.
If u do this u won't have any problems
.

Hi
Which Network card u r using ?
normally this error comes only after u have a improper driver or lancard.
I think u can change the Network card to REALTEC 8139 chipset.
Secondly check whether on linux only if u can ping urself
i.e. ping self if u can't than ur tcp/ip protocol is not loaded.
Try booting with the old kernel if u can just to verify it shuts off on its
own as bios setting is also the place where it can be changed

squeezing for win2k I would advice to have a small
harddrive for win2k
partitioning it through Partion magic or any other utility existing
partions but this may create a problem in Linux if it contains any data.

u can try changing the tulip driver with

1) remove the tulip driver from conf.modules and
reboot
2) insmod or depmod de4x5 and try to configure ur
ip addr.
This should help u out

If i am not wrong then u want to have a dual boot ?
you can install linux and win2k in any hard disk drive but u have to install
win2k first and then linux and u can write it on the MBR on first drive and
make it working but try and make a bootable linux floppy at the time of
linux installation.
You Can Lock Numlock
