To hell with the kids ... what about us adults? The problem I have is

I thought it might just be a configuration problem.

Well working with my ISP I finally resolved the wvdial/pppd issue. It
turns out that when pppd was initiating the connection with my ISP the
noipdefault option was NOT being set. For some reason I never noticed
the log file entries:

However if wvdial is called by pppd from the

immediately terminated with IPCP terminated
No you misunderstand. I set up the non-root user by su to root. I run
cdroast as a regular user and it works fine! Just follow the setup. I
have made 2 CDs already as a non root user!

Um ... the Red Hat 7.2 distro works okay for me. I just su root and ran
xcdroast. Under setup was a users tab which I used to allow regular
users to use xcdroast. I then did exactly what it said to do in the
/usr/share/doc/xcdroast-0.98a9/README.nonroot file and everything worked
fine.
Well
A while back someone posted a response to this ping problem. I don't remember what the
problem was
but I do know how to make the warning go away. Namely I have aliased ping to:
alias ping 'ping -U'
according to the ping man page the -U switch:
-U Print
I took Eric Clover's suggestion and switched to lopster:
http://download.sourceforge.net/lopster/lopster-0.9.7.2.tar.gz
It works great and seems to have more features than gnapster.
My gnapster also is not working. I fired up the windoze one and I can get
in just fine, I'm not banned or
http://download.sourceforge.net/lopster/lopster-0.9.7.2.tar.gz
i prefer to use this client anyway

Thanks for the URL. I spent some time the other day searching sourceforge for such a
beast. I must be blind.

When I have tried to use gnapster over approximately the last week it just
disconnects. However, if I use the Windoze version of the Napster client
I have no problem connecting and downloading whatever music. Napster perhaps
has changed their setup such that the gnapster client no longer
i have known gnapster to quit working forcing you to upgrade.

Yes I believe you. The point that I intended was simply that I have been using
the Napster client v2.0 Beta 7 on my Windoze box for several months. It still
works but the gnome gnapster client broke sometime last week (or at
all this the
printer is handling PS correctly. I suspect something was left over from
RH6.2 which didn't quite work with RH7.0. All is well now.

I recently upgraded from RH6.2 to RH7.0 and since that time have been unable
to get my printer (an Epson Stylus 850ne which according to printtool is
using the stc800ih, Stylus Color 800, 1440x720DpI, Inkjet Paper input filter)
to print postscript. It treats postscript as if it were a text file.
