to be honest I am setting up out first samba server. it will be housing
everyone home directory and trying to take a very restrictive approa
If I set the parameter in the [global] section to the following:
read only = no
writeable = no
will the parameter propagate thru all shares; around two hundreds
shares. Unless otherwise stated i.e. per share level?

In 20.4 the tex-site.el file is in /usr/lib/xemacs-20.4/lisp/auctex
directory. Maybe it wasn't included in the rpm. I think you should be
able to download the auctex package from xemacs.org (this should include
that file).
