You can use the shift example below to get rid of the first parameter. Then
at that point the $# will give you the number of parameters left. Then you
can loop thru the remaining parameters $1, $2, ... to the second to last one
$# - 1. That should give you what you want.

My Grub shows my original install of 8.0 as 2.4.18-14. These were purchased
pro disks. I don't know what the downloaded versions were.

interface. Every once in a while when I boot the machine up the rhn applet
(the round !) turns into a vertical line (width = 1). Upon one or two
reboots it comes back. Just recently I was moving the machine from one ip
, gone, is gone. It doesn't come back (to that one
user). If I log in as a different user, it's there.

Yes. This is normal. The security tool resets itself to high by default when
it initializes. It does not seem to read the existing state of the system.
It just goes there.
It is registering your changes and applying them.
It would probably in the long run serve you better to take over the fire

I haven't put the firewall in yet. Defaulted the install to no firewall. I am
