Hi,
I'm using open office on RH9, and the fonts are
terrible. Many fonts are missing, and others interpret
characters incorrectly.
What am I doing wrong? Do I need to download
additional fonts (I don't even have Arial!) or
configure something differently?

Hi all,
In my quest to figure out this new RH9, I have one
other question I hoped someone could help with. I
noticed that alt-tab can be used to change between
windows, but where do minimized windows go?
Once their minimized, how can I select them without
having to alt-tab through them?
They don

It has the same problem as the RH9 from rawhide -- it
spontaneously evaporates from the screen, such as what

Hi, I have a few other questions as a new RH9 user
that I hoped someone could help me answer.
- I'd like to use the standard xterm and not the
'terminal' program. However, I'd like to have
white-on-black instead of black-on-white. Is there a
program that can be used to configure the xterm

Hi all,
As a new user of RH9, I have a few questions I hoped
people could answer. I've previously used RH73.
- Is there a stable version of Mozilla v1.4 available
anywhere? rpmfind doesn't seem to have it, and the
mozilla-1.4-12 from rawhide crashes too easily.
- I've figured out that the bottom

Yes, you will need to change the rsync invocation. My
apologies. It should be something like:
rsync -avz --progress -- rsync://server/
You can replace with $1 to get the

You want to use rsync with --progress, then. Set up an
rsync server on one side then use:
rsync -avz --progress rsync://server/path/to/file

Hi Joe,
You can either read what Jeff has written, or you can
just run "cp -av" instead.

Hi all. Does anyone know of an application that can be
used to communicate with someone across the Internet
using a microphone?
Instead of making a long-distance call, I'd like to
talk to them over the Internet using a microphone
attached to my PC.
Thanks,

Hi. I'm using vmware-3.2 on my RH73 system with XP Pro
as a guest OS. I'm having difficulty with cut and
paste between XP and Linux. It works okay from Linux
to XP, but not vice-versa.
I believe it worked at one point, but now it simply
doesn't. I'm using the kernel-2.4.18-3 version of the
kernel.

Hi everyone. I'm trying to dd a CDROM to produce an

This works, and I can mount the resulting ISO using

Hi. I'm considering buying about 10 of the 3Com

They can be found for under fourty bucks, so seem to
be a pretty reasonable board for the price...
thanks.

Hi. I have a few FHS questions. RH7 seems to follow

Where does the /usr/etc directory come from? That

Where is the proper directory for chroot'd packages?
