Frank,
The only thing that I would recommend pm for is resizing windows
partitions. Don't install it on the hard drive; Don't use it to
create "linux" partitions. I've seen pm do some really wacky stuff
to people's partition tables. And for that matter, you could just skip
pm and use the
Use something like partition magic or fips ( included on linux cd ) to
re-partition your hard drive, then install
linux on the new partition, load LILO ( linux loader ) whih gives you the
option to boot in to linux or dos ( win98 ).

How do I specify that the first 1024 cylinders is used for Linux. Windows 98
is already there. partition magic allows me to create a partition, but not
specify it's starting point.

You wont need the whole 1024 cyl for Linux, but the boot area must start
within the 1024 cyl limit, so as long as you can shrink the win98 partition
to 1024 , you should be in business

You'll need a utility like PartitionMagic or FIPS to do

You need to shrink your primary partition to less than 1024
cylinders.
HI Todd,
I just purchased PM 5.0
I having trouble getting PM to move the win98 partition so I can create a
Linux partition under the 1024 size.
As far as Linux goes, I'm trying to decide between Red Hat, Caldera and
Corel.
So far I have been told that:
1. Caldera has a better and easier
I think corel and even possibly caldera both come with a version of PM to
do the partition resizing. So save your money and return PM
