I'm running RedHat 9.0 (upraded from 8.0) and I have an Advansys ABP940U I'm
trying to change for an Adaptec 2940U, due to some problems I'm having with
my CDRW.
First, let me state that the system boots off IDE, so I don't need an INITRD.
Second, the system found the new card and added it to /

I am guessing that you're /partition is on scsi. You need an initrd that
includes the necessary scsi driver. therefore if you swap scsi cards and / is
on the scsi card that you swapped out, you will need to boot the install cd

I have been using an initio-based IWill host adapter for years since RH6.x without one
spot of trouble. Check the onboard host ada
I try not to be hard core about anything other than my belief in God and his

So if I can't find an Advansys card, what should I use ?
What SCSI cards do you all recommend?

This may be a simple question but I've not come across an answer in my
web/deja searches.
I've got a large linux with two SCSI controller cards, the first card is an
IBM ServeRAID III RAID card which holds the raid mirror for my Linux core
OS/boot partitions.
The second is an Adaptec 2944UW

wanting to get an external CD-ROM burner and ORB drive that I can use on a
few different machines and would like to get SCSI devices, but don't need
blazing speed...only reliability.
Thanks,

I have an IWill 2935UW. Works perfectly in Redhat and Turbolinux with
the Initio 9100 drivers.
Jack
Anyone had any experience with IWILL SCSI cards?
Do they work ok with RH ??
If not, what SCSI brands are recommended?
