Well, I have an ISA modem KTX 33.6 based on
Rockwell
chip set RCV336 ACF/SVD and Crystal Sound card
CS4239
and I have been struggling for two days to make it
work together. First of all the modem is non
standard
serial port, (COM3 IRQ5) so have the non standard
serial port enable in kernel
linux even starts, then it is not an OS compatibility
problem. Maybe the sound card is bad? You might try exchanging it where you bought
it before giving up on it.

whoops, my bad. I though you said from Red Hat updates. Just as well,
because as Jason pointed out, 3.0.5 can cause problems building other
rpms.
Just curious, does your 2.2.16 kernel have the pptp masquerading built it?

No. I tried patching, and it needed a few lines tweaked to work with Red
Hat's IPVS patches. It probably would be fairly simple to actually do,
but I didn't really bother.
