I was just thinking about using my old DR-570 for a cross band repeater
project. (it's the one with the repeat switch on the top). At www.mods.dk
there is a mod for expander rf and cross band repeater mod that says:
"6. Remove the two pin connector to disable audio bleed in repeater mode."

Anything from a small low powered repeater in a box to a
cross banded dual/multi band radio works pretty well.
Small low powered repeaters can be made from small
radios (even portables) up to commercial vehicle systems
like the Pyramid Radio Equipment. I'm sure there will be

Nick,
Many states/regions have an SNP, or test pair, or nonprotected pair of
UHF frequencies for conceptual studies, experimenting, etc. If your area has
such a pair then that would be a natural for your mobile repeater.
That being said, please pay attention to the advice already given he

HI Nick,
I'm going to say this as nicely as I can.
"Mobile repeaters" are for the most part, completely useless. Most
coordinators want to know exactly where you are going to put your
repeater before they will Coordinate a Freequency pair. Mobile

I went and checked for MVP's in closed eBay auctions and found none at all.
I check periodically and find them selling for $75-$150 for the UHF ones.
VHF high and VHF low are usually much cheaper. Plus shipping, which

I use EchoStation as a repeater, Fast setup for Emergency use or
just in case you need a Repeater or backup.
I started using it while my Repeater was under repairs, liked its
range and audio better so I use it full time now. My Repeater is the
backup for Echostation now.
How ever I do have it
