Hi all,
I have been experimenting with custom scan and custom browse for my
classical collection. I am using the following custom tag;
ALLARTISTS=combine ALBUMARTIST|BAND(text= / )|BAND|CONDUCTOR(text= /
)|CONDUCTOR
For a dsf album that I have, the tags are as follows;
ALBUMARTIST = Rachel Pod

DSF most commonly uses ID3 tags. It might be getting confused between AA
and BAND because AA has been de facto stored in the BAND field in ID3v2
for quite some time.

Thanks. Do you know how to fix it? I'm using mp3tag, which I think uses
ID3v2 tags...

Mp3tag reads&writes different types&versions of tags. But having
multiple tag versions in parallel time might cause issues. So first
check that mp3tag shows a single tag type for your t

So I'm actually the person who convinced slim that they needed the
option to treat TPE2 as Album Artist at scan time, and as the default.
This is bc virtually all software handles TPE2 this way, most don't even
give a choice. Whatever u do, I would suggest you don't mess with
that.
It is unfor
You can use SQLite Expert Personal for free to view everything in the
database. I believe you can only use what's already in the DB or you
would have to add another field, which I don't know how to do, so that's
about it.

To be clear, u mean that TPE2 was recognized as Album Artist, right?
Bc LMS does not, afaik, populate its DB values twice, meaning TPE2 will.
E either Album Artist, or Band, not both, depending on that scan
setting.
My confusion is that I thought u were looking to populate both fields,
no?

Hi BJW, I have the info that I need and it worked.

That almost clarifies everything.
What I still want to know is how u have a separate BAND field that LMS
uses?
Is it TXXX BAND or...? What app is writing it?

I think your TPE1 and TPE2 are written by your ripper or tag editor. LMS
doesn't write these. The treat TPE2 as band or album artist only affects
how the LMS database is built. I wonder what would happen if you coded
your 2 things as album artist field separated with a semicolon ";".

I think it is, Im using mp3tag. I think the band tag is not standard in
mp3tag, so I created one.

So are we saying that my bug here has already been implemented?

It would be an idea to add a toggle that would direct LMS to use the
same value for both Album Artist and Band in its DB, unless a differing
explicit Band tag was present.

I was not saying that a separate BAND tag had been implemented in the
LMS database, I was saying that you can put multiple items in TPE2 by
separating them with a semi colon ";". You would then see separate
entries for each one in the "Album Artist" view with the LMS setting of
"Treat TPE2 MP3 ta

I don't know if this solves your problem, but
- you can tag album artist in most programs like mp3tag
- set LMS to use TPE2 as album artist. This will show the alb
It is very helpful.
The implication of what you are saying is that both mp3tag and LMS will
support a custom user made and defined BAND tag.
It likely is written by mp3tag as:
TXXX BAND
...in files using id3 tags. I am not surprised mp3tag allows this or
does that since they are aware TPE2
