Dirk - based on this - here's an idea for a new feature in
SA:
Allow user to create a new check and use "[*]" as the
"Server name or IPX address".
Then, upon SAVE, SA would pop up a list of all the
"Server name or IPX addresses" it has already in the file and allow you to check

We do a variety of checks that look at hardware,

Examples beyond the normal disk space/ping/ checks

directory for batch processes.

In addition what has already been mentioned, we use SNMP to monitor the
temperature in our server room.

I suppose you could open the appropriate ports on a point-to-point basis,

What about items located in a DMZ? I've got an OWA in there and get down errors when trying to Ping, DNS, and check the http://mail.mydomain.com/exchange website. Is there a special configuration for these devices? I ask because I have others I haven't gotten too yet.

I have a similar requirement however I bring up a site
like this on a daily basis with maybe 8 dependent checks. I never got a
satisfactory answer on this list.
I basically created my own system to create the hosts
file from scratch by quering a database of sites and checks I'd like done.
Does anyone do anything with SNMP and
