I have just installed Samba 3.0.0 beta 3 on RH9, after uninstalling beta
2 (but keeping the smb.conf file the same). I am having a problem with
resolving the SID of root. I have "admin users = Administrator" set on

all is fine. One of the points, is that if you double click on
the printer folder, the printers inside that folder do not give
you that error. The only ones that I get that error from is

on the client machine too or does only the mount.cifs file suffice?

It seems the locking problem is related to reiserfs, not to WinXP. Under WinXP, it's
just more obvious because the Explorer already sets locks when moving the mouse.
So, has anybody similar experience (locks on examined files are maintained for several
seconds) with samba and reiserfs?

ntusername wsmith gets mapped to unix 'smith';
now the smith username is used to continue parsing thru the user map file, and

We have a samba server behind a firewall with the IP address 192.168.200.2
and a Windows 2000 Domain controller with the IP address 192.168.255.1 .
When we put the samba in the same subnet then it woks fine.
We forwarded the folowing ports:
TCP and UDP
192.168.200.2 to 192.168.255.1port 137

This will not work due to the fact that windows and unix (/etc/passwd) store
passwords in different ways ...
You cannot add one attribute "memberuid" with comma separator.
You can add more than one attribute "memberUid"
example :

default owner 'administrator' and group owner 'Domain Admins' and let
access to others throw acl. Trouble is, when some user from 'Domain
Admins' group changes some file, he also changes user and group owner to
'his_user
We have just installed Samba 2.2.8a along with windbind. We have created
some shares from AIX and have mapped them to Windows 2000. We can create
files but can not create directories. Has anyone ever run into this ?
