on Solaris 8, and Win2k and XP. About 2 weeks ago, my
Roaming Profile started loading/unloading REALLY slow.
It had been taking 30-45 seconds to load, then all of a sudden

Yes, it is! That was the reason for my almost daily cvs updates from
which I had the compile error that was quickly resolved by running
autogen.sh. Thank you very much, Samba team, for getting the net ads

Well, that's what I was saying I did. I first did just a 'make clean'
and rebuilt, but then I went further and did a 'make distclean',
followed by 'autoconf', './configure', and 'make'. Both ways result in
the compile error.

One adds '#undef UNIXWARE' to quiet some warnings. The other

I've been searching the archives, but I've not seen anything addressing
the questions I have below:
First, we run several Samba Servers on various Linux systems on our
network. All the Samba Servers are working just fine and we are really
happy with them.
We have been trying to track down some

the user 'james' i want to have with admin privs. 'james' is also under group 'wheel'
aswell.
in /usr/local/etc/smb.conf i have added the line

This works fine with windows 2000. I can logon in with the user 'james' and have admin

This is a bug report I logged in the bug tracking system and it was
suggested I forward it on to samba-technical. So here it is. Basically
it looks like AD groups don't work in the valid users list with Winbind
and Samba.

Good way to debug is to first do a
smbclient -L 192.168.1.100
That will give you a list of shares on the host. If that doesn't return
anything, you probably forgot to restart your daemon or are having other
networking issues.

I have been working with samba trying to get PDC functionality out of it. I
tried first - version 3 from samba.org then I tried the samba that comes

rh7.3 and the last version I have been trying to get to work is the latest
samba-tng.
It has been straight forward getting file sharing
I have a lab with 24 pc's I'm trying to reimage. I have a DOS network boot disk

I had a problem with a user whose My Documents file (as well as his mail
file) is enormous. The samba PDC tried to replicate his profile to the
server and failed. Subsequently, winlogon deleted his documents (a bad day
for linux advocacy). I need to either:

I don't recognize the problem, offhand, but I'd try cranking up the log
level to 10 and try again. The reason is that there is a 30 second
delay
between the end of the protocol level
I've found the problem.
WinXP tries to negotiate an encrypted channel by default when it is a
member of a domain. To disable this, use the Local Security Settings
editor, and find and disable this key:
