Hello -
I am trying to use Samba and Cups to serve a file share and a "raw"
printer to a Windows 98 client. I am using Gentoo Linux, kernel
2.6.12, Samba 3.0.14a, and Cups 1.1.23. I can access the data share
from the Samba server, but the printer share does not show up when I
try to use it, even i
Thanks to Craig who almost by error helped me resolve the problem
When he showed his entries, he included this line;
printcap = cups
I was pretty sure this was meant to be "printcap name = cups" but
checked google, and came across these two links;

Have you looked at your Internet Explorer proxy settings? I've found
that they can interfere with CUPS printing.

Hi,
I've spent way too many hours trying to make this work and have hit a
wall. Hoping that someone can provide me with the clue that resolves
this issue
I'm unable to print from a domain connected windows XP client to our
samba server, apparently due to credential/access restrictions

Hi!
Ok, I'm running LFS 6.0 with Samba 3.0.14a and CUPS 1.1.23. My question

windoze client connects to the printer?
I've done everything I can think of (or find on the 'net), but still I get
an error message saying:

where I have the printer access allowed/denied by username. It appears
that samba is passing the username in uppercase to CUPS as the owner of
the printjob and then CUPS does not recognise that username and rejects
the job. It al
