of course.I was talking about the '90s, when there was a reference of 5.5s
to R, etc...what we do/speak about today as clubbuilder/fitters and what we do
in general discussion are different..I have many clients who think all Rs

Personally I am surprised to see any professional builder using terms like "R"
or "S". I though to fit some one correctly you find a shaft and head combo
that gives you the desired ball flight and then figure out what frequency to
cut them too to hit them fairly straight. The terms "R" or "S"
Scott...I believe some of the AGCP members use the PCS flex designations and
some use Dana Upshaw's 5i or 6i charts. I generally ream .355" to .370" with
the customer's agreement. From what I've seen, using taper tips sometimes
results in a slope of 6 cpm...and at his swing speeds, 'feel' is

where you will hold the club so that's where he designed it from. A blank

You know with that swing speed the kid would be better off with a set of
Project X's instead of regular rifles. He is going to possibly get some

This just occurred to me (us old farts have to wait for inspiration) Why not
clamp the Rifle shaft at 2 1/2", record the freq, then clamp at 5" and compare
the difference. As I recall, Rifles were clamped at 2 1/2" with a really heavy
tip weight attached. Virtually all their shafts freq'd and p
yes, these were tapers. I really hate using taper tips, but I didn't have a
choice in this case. I've noticed the same thing that Robert pointed out in
that when I measure 5.0 and 5.5 shafts, they seem to fall in ranges that I
expect. But starting at about 6.0 and up, they seem to really jump
Scott...you using taper tips unless you reamed them outthe butt cpms might
