I'm new here and trying to learn. There are so many models of CS makers for
home use. My question is this; if you didn't have a CS maker yet what would
be the model you would get? I've seen directions on how to make my own but
I'm so not a geek so that is not an option.

All I knew or could find out about CS back then wasalmost absolutely
nothing...which alone was enough to figure out how not to do it.
Total ignorance is an opportunity to dispel tradition.
I never thought using salt was a good idea and never tried it.

Copper doesn't increase the conductivity of the water over time like
silver does, therefore, the current doesn't stay constant and you might get
.28 PPM the first minute and 2.8 PPM the next and 9 PPM over that the next
minute.
In 15 minutes the transformer starts getting hot and melts

Thanks Wayne!
This was the one.
The answer to David's question would be maybe 30 to 60 ppm
or more at 27 volts in the water I tested... However, I
would recommend only using 9 volts for this type of
situation. Also, electrode spacing makes a difference. No
need to add salt.

Get a handle on that current rise somehow..there are several ways.

Hi Herman.
3 hours is probaly too long unless your making a gallon. Try using a quart
jar and with the coins on eash side of the jar facing each other. Run that
for about 1.5 hours. Shine a flashlight in the the water, you should see
clouds. Your CS should be clear at this point except for the

The apparatus suggests a way to prevent run-away

Make two electrolysis cells, identical except that one
has silver electrodes and the other has copper electrodes.
Put them in series with a suitable voltage supply.
